If you have or a friend has HBO....the next time they show the Making of Dreamgirls. You will get the full picture of each character and the story of how it started. Dreamgirls was on Broadway more than 20 years ago and was a hit show.
Technically Its not based on anyone...the original dreamgirls play was based on the music industry and girl groups during that time...its similar in theory to the movie the Five Heartbeats which resembles male bands during that time period but is often said to be the temptations. So in this case this the record label is motown, the supremes are the dreams...and for everyone who has seen the movie...the boy band...the jackson 5!
